The way points of this running / walking route:
Start Paddle from Clyde River Foreshore in Korners Park on North east side of the Batemans Bay Bridge. This paddle starts in an area where the tidal flow can be quite strong and wind waves can form that can cause some water to enter open kayaks. Beginners should only attempt this paddle when conditions are benign. On leaving the shore head east following the shoreline to the open water off Surfside Beach. This open water is partly protected but can still become rough in southerly winds. Proceed to entrance to Cullendulla Creek at the southern end on Square Head. It is possible to take a short cut across the sand banks into the creek at the top of the tide.
Turn left into Cullendulla Creek
Note the Mangrove Boardwalk on the left
This paddle is best done near the top of the tide as navigation is easier in the upper reaches of the creek
Note the remnants of the timber railway on the left hand bank. The railway was used to cart timber from a mill to be loaded on to coastal shipping
Turn around point. Retrace route to North Batemans Bay
Re-enter open water. Assess conditions before leaving the shelter of the creek. If conditions are unsuitable, walk/paddle kayak to Cullendulla Beach and return to Start by land.
