The way points of this running / walking route:
Start the paddle at the boat ramp on the Tomaga River in Mossy Point. This River is tidal and the flow is quite strong on the lower aprts of the river. It is still quite OK to do this paddle even if against the flow. It is however easier to navigate the upper reaches if the tide is high. This paddle is 21km in length for the return trip.
Head upstream past the houses and moored boats in at Mossy Point
The mangrove area on the left can be explored at high tide
Note the erosion that is occurring on the river bank on the right. The distance between the river and the ocean is becoming very small.
The village of Tomakin now appears on the right. If paddling at low tide follow the channel markers to avoid the shallow areas
Tomaga Sports and Social Club on the right.
Pass under the George Bass Dr road bridge
The Moorings Development marina is on the right. This is private property.
Tomakin Par 3 Golf Course on the right
The Oaks Ranch Resort is on the left, with golf course, accommodation, horse riding.
Bear Right where Jeremadra Creek joins the Tomaga River on the left.
Go straight ahead where Mogo Creek joins
The river is now alongside the Zoo and strange animals may appear at the banks of the river. (behind a fence!)
Paddle ends where river is blocked by trees. Return to Mossy Point by retracing steps
