The way points of this running / walking route:
Start Paddle at Lavender Bay off Nelson Pde. This is a short paddle around Horse Island
There is a channel that leads into the passage around the island. It is important to find this channel if paddling at low tide.
Beware of oyster lease infrastructure on the southern side of the channel. There is a grass airstrip on the island to the right . This is used by the owners to visit the property from Sydney by plane.
It is possible to enter the bay to the south to explore this area. Take care to avoid oyster lease infrastructure
Emus kangaroos and wallabies are often seen can be seen on the island and mainland. Eagles also frequent the area.
Staghorns can be seen on the trees on the left side
Paddle under the bridge to Horse Island
Turn right to join this channel of the Tuross River
The large house on the island is a feature of this part of the paddle
You can paddle to The Boat Shed cafe for for a coffee or meal before returning to the start point of the paddle.
