At the right go down Rangely Rd. (supposedly a private way but everyone uses it anyway) which will wind you through a woodsy area and some beautiful old homes and mansions.) to Church St. At Church St. Turn right and then right at Waterfield Rd. (a good place for lunch is D'agastinos' ) on your right. Follow Waterfield Rd. to the Post Office and turn left onto Thompson St. Follow Thompson St to the end back to the business district (main St. route 38) turn left to the rotary and then right onto Mt. Vernon St. You will walk past Lucia's ristorante (Italian) and the Fire Station on your left. Turn right at Converse Pl. and the mill pond will be on your left. You can see the island and the Library across the pond. as well as Lincoln School rising on the hill across the pond. Walk along the bike path sidewlak around Coverse Pl, China Sky Chinese will be on your right you will come back to Route 38 and be at the Waterfall and the Site of the first house. 15.8km | 1.5km | Winchester | From here you will turn left cross the old Converse Bridge (built int he 1630's) and follow the footpath along the mill pond to the Library. At the Library follow the path to your left and you will see the town hall building on your right (the big Red brick tower) . Carefully cross Mt vernon St. by the Firestation (on your left) and continue down the bike path. You will follow the Aberjona River and the Jenks Senior Center will be onyour right. Judkins pond and the Arthur Griffin Museum and Center for the Photographic Arts will come into view across Judkins Pond, the Winchester High School on your left. At the end of the path turn left and walk along Judkins Pond on skillings Rd. to the traffic Light. Cross skillings rd. here and continue across to the path along the high shcool and the railroad tracks. this will take you to Spruce St. Follow Spruce St. up to Oak St. the train tracks will be on your left. Turn right on Oak St. and a quick left onto Holland St. This is the Little Italy Section of Winchester - an old italian neighborhood which used to have corner stores (many homes look like old stores, because thats what they used to be) You'll hit Swanton St. (Swanton St. Deli is a good snack stop)....Cross Swanton Carefully....then continue straight onto Florence....Follow Florence to the end and turn left on Irving St. - then a quick right at the entrance to Muraco School You have completed the almost 10 mile loop | SE | 116° | 12.4m |
